Autobee Club Inc Board
We bring together Avondale and surrounding communities to improve and advance the quality of life, advocate, educate, donate, and serve the community that has given us so much.
The Club came to be during a family birthday get-together where George Autobee (better known as Porgie) along with several other Autobee descendants (to be named later as we are researching) were drinking a few beers around the table and having a good time. They said, “Why don’t we form a Family Club to keep our name and heritage alive?” So they began hosting meetings and family events in their backyards. They started the Autobee Family Festival, held in the Avondale area, which was enjoyed by so many who came from near and far. In 1982, they became a non-profit, LLC Club, and began their new purpose: supporting community programs. Well, they like most clubs, had their up and downs and unfortunately the Club slowed down due to a lack of membership and leadership that resulted in the ending of the Family Festivals. The Club took a new direction under Gabe Gallegos (president 2013-2020). The Club stepped up to help Scared Heart’s Jamaica, by running the Games, Cake Walk, Bingo, and a shift at the Hamburger stand. George’s (Porgie) dream to support the community and provide entertainment for the family has become a reality.
